Volunteering

Volunteering is the best way to get involved with the PTO. There are a variety of volunteer opportunities available and these opportunities allow parents to get a peek into the school lives of their children. When choosing to volunteer, you aren’t doing this for the PTO, you are doing this because your want to give your child a wonderful, well-rounded elementary school experience. By volunteering, you are helping to ensure your child gets to make wonderful memories that will hopefully last a lifetime.

How can I volunteer?

There are dozens of volunteer opportunities throughout an average school year. These opportunities start before school begins in August and usually end around the same time the students wrap up their school year.

Annual volunteer opportunities include:

I work really strange hours, how can I help?

As a volunteer, you can choose what best fits your schedule. Some volunteer positions will only be needed for an hour one day, while others can include weekly responsibilities. There are some times we will need volunteers for events during the school day, but also times that volunteers will be needed in the evenings. No matter what kind of crazy schedule you have, there is always a way you can help.

How has COVID impacted volunteering?

COVID protocols have definitely impacted in-person volunteering. Currently, volunteers are not allowed in the district buildings, however this will not always be the case. We hope to have in-person volunteers at some point during the 2021-22 school year.

There are stills many ways to help in the meantime:

  • Become a Class Parent Volunteer – You can donate games, snacks, crafts, etc. for classroom parties. Although these parties are usually planned and ran by parents, this year they will be planned by parents and ran by the classroom teacher.
  • Donate Ideas – Being a volunteer doesn’t always mean you have to physically be in the school building. There are so many ways to help with ideas and research! If a committee interests you, reach out to the chair and ask them how you can help—fresh ideas are usually the best ideas.
